How does StoryWorld work?

Our ebooks are based on the way most of us learned our first language—through the stories our parents read to us. Your child will read along as the text narrated aloud. Lively images provide visual clues that support the meaning of the story. And, what makes StoryWorld unique is how every word or phrase is clickable for support, allowing your child to learn at their own pace. Some parents tell us our books are like having an adult available to help at any time.

What makes StoryWorld different from other language-learning programs?

To our knowledge, no other ebook library offers word-by-word translations in both text and audio. This kind of instant support enables learners transfer their language skills from their home language to a new language—an approach backed by academic research.

Will teaching my child two languages hurt them in school?

Not at all! Research shows that exposing children to multiple languages at an early age actually increases their brain capacity, even if they never master the language. The ideal time to introduce a new language is when children are young and most receptive to new languages.

What is the best age for STORYWORLD?

It is never too early—or too late—to expose children to a new language. Children under 5 typically love to listen to the stories over and over. This is exactly how they will pick up the new language! Children over five years old benefit from the same listening experience while also using StoryWorld to build reading, speaking, and writing skills.

Does StoryWorld work on a phone or tablet?

Yes! StoryWorld works on all devices connected to wifi, including smartphones, tablets and computers.

What do I get with my membership?

What grade levels are best for StoryWorld?

What makes StoryWorld different from other programs for ELLs?

To our knowledge, no other ebook library offers word-by-word translations in both text and audio. This kind of instant support enables learners transfer their language skills from their home language to a new language—an approach backed by academic research.

Are bilingual scaffolds good for my ELL students?

Yes! All multilingual students need “comprehensible input”, a widely-accepted learning theory that recognizes students need to understand key vocabulary about what they are learning in order to comprehend the material and progress. StoryWorld allows language learners to switch languages at any time for comprehension, and click any word for translations – and correct pronunciations – to fully support comprehensible input.

How many languages are available on StoryWorld?
